University of Montenegro Hosts 10th Rector’s Forum of the South East Europe and Western Balkan and Ulysseus International Conference on April 7th and 8th

At the University of Montenegro, the 10th Rectors Forum of Southeast Europe and the Western Balkans will take place, which will officially be opened on Monday, April 7th, at 9:30 AM, in the Rectorate building in Podgorica.


At the opening, the Rector of the University of Montenegro, Vladimir Božović, PhD, and the President of the Rectors’ Forum, Rector of the University of Rijeka, Snježana Prijić-Samaržija, PhD, will hold speech.


The event, jointly organized by the University of Montenegro and the University of Ljubljana, will gather rectors, representatives of European universities, quality assurance agencies, and high-ranking officials of the European Union and regional countries. The Forum will be dedicated to key topics for development of higher education, including role of the European diploma, quality assurance at the European and national levels, the participation of universities in the EU accession process, and strengthening cooperation through European university alliances.


The second day of the event will be marked by the Ulysseus international networking conference, whose official opening will be on April 8th, starting at 9:00 AM, in the Rectorate UMNE.

On this occasion, participants will be addressed by the Rector of the University of Montenegro, Vladimir Božović, PhD, President of the Rectors’ Forum, Rector of the University of Rijeka, Snježana Prijić-Samaržija, and the President of the University Côte d’Azur from Nice, Jeanick Brisswalter.
As part of the conference, through two sessions, good practices of European university alliances (ULYSSEUS, YUFE, CIRCLE-U, ACE2EU, ACROSS, SUNRISE, EUPeace) will be presented, and their role in modernization of education and capacity building of the Western Balkans universities. The final session will be dedicated to a high-level debate on the role of universities in the process of European integration, in which the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro, Filip Ivanović, and the EU Ambassador to Montenegro, Johann Sattler, will participate. The moderator will be Ivan Svetlik, PhD, from the University of Ljubljana.


We remind that the University of Montenegro (UMNE) is a full member of the European University Ulysseus, a network of European universities, as the only university coming from a country that is not an EU member. The network is led by the University of Seville, and next to UMNE, it includes the University of Genoa (Italy), the University Côte d’Azur (France), the Technical University in Košice (Slovakia), MCI Entrepreneurial School (Austria), and the University of Applied Sciences Haaga-Helia (Finland).
